Upper-crossed syndrome (UCS) is also referred to as proximal or shoulder girdle crossed syndrome, “iHunch” (from hunching over laptops, smartphones or tablets), E.T. siluett (yes, that ET from the movie) or simply “my shoulder and neck hurt, do something” syndrome 😉
When the muscles of your shoulders, neck, and chest are out of balance — some too weak and some too tight, it cause pain in the whole upper area of your body.
In side views of the upper body, these muscles seem to group in the shape of an X, which has led to the name of the condition.
